At its 42nd Annual General Meeting on 12th August Reliance Industries Chairman, Mukesh Ambani announced details regarding the much-awaited launch of the Jio Fiber Service, which being a triple play of broadband, TV and landline, is revolutionary to say the least.
Three data plans will offer by Reliance Jio. The base plan will be available to users at Rs. 500 per month with internet speeds upto 100 Mbps. Another plan, called the Triple Play Plan, is to be priced at Rs. 600. The package will feature a combination of Jio’s DTH, Broadband and landline services. Customers will get upto 100 GB of data with this plan. The premium plan, priced slightly higher at Rs. 1000, will have the same DTH, broadband, and landline bundle but with complementary support for Internet of Things (IOT) products.
Reliance Jio GigaFiber users are likely to get free landline services with the commercial launch. Even though the company is offering maximum speeds upto 100 Mbps, under the Jio GigaFiber, the company will offer upto 1Gbps of internet speeds to select users under premium and select data plans. This is a huge plus for Jio Users considering very few internet service providers such as ACT Fibernet and Spectra offer 1 Gbps internet plans in India.
To the utter joy of the millions of Jio users, a new smart feature called JioPhone 3 was also unveiled at this gathering. Since Jio’s Debut, Reliance has launched two smart feature phones that offer 4G mobile internet and access to popular apps such as YouTube and WhatsApp. The JioPhone 3, which is a successor to the JioPhone 2 is expected to run on KaiOs and powered by MediaTek chip. It is also expected to improve specifications and features.
With such value-for-money offers, Jio has upped its game ever since it forayed into the market. No wonder, Jio has about 10 million users now. These further launches are only a further indication to their market opponents regarding the rising competition in the market.
