Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Thursday called upon the alumni and the larger community of State to join the ‘Mo School’ movement to create a healthy eco-system in education and help achieve transformational goals.
Addressing a function here to mark the completion of the second year of the program started by his government, the Chief Minister said, “An institution’s alumni are key to its growth. And no one is likely to be more concerned and caring for an educational institute than its former students. It is this value that led to our Mo School initiative. Its unprecedented success over the last two years has vindicated our belief.”
Patnaik said the Mo School has made huge inroads into the collective wisdom of the people encouraging them to give back to their alma maters. “I believe this movement over the years can change the face of our education system,” he added.
A robust and vibrant education system is the only path to development. And this can be achieved by our collective responsibility, the Chief Minister adding, the alumni have to play a greater role in this endeavor. “World over, all the top global institutes have grown with the support of their alumni. Take the case of MIT, or say Havard University. These institutes are at the top of global research and education parameters. The alumni of these institutes have a significant role in their growth. In India too, no one can ignore the role of former students in the growth of IIT and IIM,” he asserted.
The Chief Minister said that the aspirational Odisha wants to make a quantum jump in the realization of its dreams. “If you want to see a new Odisha if you want to see an empowered Odisha, then Come, Join in the Movement— the movement to create a healthy ecosystem for education. Let’s work together to achieve the transformational goals we have dreamt for our Odisha,” he said.
Patnaik said now it’s well begun and half the work is done. “There is still a long way to go for us. Moving forward, we need to create vibrant networks of alumnus. This can be built using technological avenues and social media. Today’s students are tomorrow’s alumni,” Patnaik added.
A sense of pride needs to be instilled in our present students and the example of Mo School will be an ideal way of doing so, the Chief Minister said adding, “Seeing the success of Mo School, Government has also launched ‘Mo College’- A Platform for college alumni. He called upon everyone to take upon the responsibility of Mo School as a duty for future generations.
The Chief Minister also released the Mo School Mobile App, a Coffee Table Book and a News Letter. He felicitated the contributor of Mo School App Amarendra Sahoo – co-Founder of Nestaway. School & Mass Education Minister Sameer Ranjan Das, Mo School Chairperson Susmita Bagchi, Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner, Principal Secretaries were present at the function.
