To reinforce the fight against coronavirus COVID19, a special COVID Health Centre has been set up at NTPC Medical College and Hospital Sundargarh. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, today, inaugurated the 200 bedded COVID Health Centre via video conferencing. NTPC Darlipali has facilitated the infrastructure for the Health Centre. The District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Sundargarh has provided financial assistance for the health centre.
On the occasion, Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das, Union PNG Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi were also present in the video conference.
COVID19 state chief spokesperson Subroto Bagchi, chief secretary Asit Kumar Tripathi and 5T secretary VK Pandian were also present in the conference. Sundargarh District Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan along with Sunil Kumar Satya, Chief General Manager (CGM), NTPC Darlipali, CDMO Sundargarh Dr. Saroj Kumar Mishra were present at the health centre premises.
The COVID Health Centre has 200 beds and isolation wards. For sample testing and swab collection, the health centre has kiosk collection methods found in other places such as South Korea and Kerala.
The Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital has taken over the management of the COVID Health Centre. The three floors of Sundargarh Medical College under construction by the NTPC Darlipali were handed over to the district administration for this COVID Health Centre. A 200 bedded dedicated COVID Hospital opened earlier at the Hi-Tech Medical College in Rourkela in Sundargarh has been functioning satisfactorily. In addition, one COVID Testing Center with a target capacity of 120 samples per day has been set up at Ispat General Hospital (IGH) Rourkela.
