A 48-year-old woman of Cuttack who underwent plasma therapy at Ashwini COVID Hospital has recovered from the disease. The Heath and Family Welfare Department broke the news in an official tweet. As of now, 13 patients in Odisha have received plasma therapy. Majority of these patients are responding positively to the treatment.
In Odisha, the convalescent plasma therapy began on July 15 and July 16 in three major hospitals namely SUM Hospital and KIIMS Hospital in Bhubaneswar and Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the plasma bank at SCB Medical College and Hospital on July 15. Eligible COVID-19 survivors were appealed to donate their plasma for the noble cause.
On July 22, Plasma therapy kick started at Tata COVID Hospital at Sitalapalli in Ganjam district. It was later announced to start plasma bank at IGH-Rourkela, MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur and Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. Odisha stands third in line just after Delhi and Maharashtra to introduce plasma therapy.
