On Friday, Odisha reported 1643 new COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths. At present, the COVID-19 tally stands at 44,193 while the death toll jumped to 259 on Saturday.
Ganjam and Khordha districts reported maximum of 274 COVID-19 cases each followed by Rayagada (136), Sundergarh (118), Sambalpur (112) and Cuttack (98). 1018 cases were detected in quarantine centres while 625 are local contacts, informed I&PR department.

As per Health and Family welfare department, two deaths each were reported from Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Khordha while one death each was reported from Balasore, Bargarh, Gajapati, Sundargarh. The state also witnessed a record in COVID-19 recoveries with 1810 patients recovering from COVID-19 on Friday.
