An explosion at a mall in Mall road area in Chaman city of Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Monday has claimed the lives of five people, leaving ten injured. The dead bodies and injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital. An additional contingent of police officers arrived at the spot to initiate a probe into the blast.
Chaman Station House Officer (SHO) said that the the explosives were installed on a motorcycle parked in an area and detonated by a remote-controlled device. H also added that motorcycles and cars parked in the area suffered damage due to the intensity of the explosion. No group or individual has claimed responsibility so far.
Expressing grief over the loss of lives, Prime Minister Imran Khan has strongly condemned the Chaman blast, and prayed for the recovery of those injured. He stated that terrorists wish to obliterate peace in Chaman to achieve their conspiratorial plans. Khan observed that the development of the Pak-Afghan border will serve as a protection from the criminal plans of anti-state elements.
The Balochistan CM condoled with the families of the deceased, and expressed the resolve for complete elimination of terrorism from the province.
