Various programmes are being undertaken by the State Govt to train the youth of Sundargarh which will help support their livelihood. Recently, offer letters were presented to all 62 candidates who were trained in ‘Machine Operator Plastics Processing’ at Central Institute of Petrochemical Engineering and Technology (CIPET)in BPUT Campus Rourkela.
The CIPET facility has been set up by the District Administration to provide advanced training in plastics technology for the educated youth of Sundargarh. All 62 candidates have been given offer letters from various organisations and course completion certificates for completing 6 months training programme titled ‘Machine Operator Plastics Processing’.
ADM Rourkela cum Commissioner RMC Dr Subhankar Mohapatra gave away the completion certificates and offer letters to the candidates in a special event at Rourkela. Collector Sundargarh Nikhil Pavan Kalyan congratulated the candidates for the achievement. The candidates have received the offer letters from various firms outside Odisha.
Out of 62 trained candidates at CIPET Rourkela, 22 candidates were inducted under Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) while the remaining 40 candidates were from 6 mining affected blocks of Sundargarh district and sponsored by District Mineral Foundation, DMF Sundargarh.
Under this training programme, DMF Sundargarh bore the expenses of tuition, hostel, fooding, uniforms and training kit fee for the 40 candidates.
The District Administration has signed a MoU with CIPET to create employment opportunities for the youth of tribal dominated Sundargarh district. The State Government has taken a novel step to train the tribal candidates from 6 mining affected blocks of Koira, Lahunipara, Kuarmunda, Rajgangpur, Kutra and Hemgir on Plastic technology to ensure their livelihood.
CIPET Rourkela has a 6-month course on ‘Machine Operator Plastics Processing’ (MOPP) along with Multi Skill Training Programme. DMF Sundargarh is providing financial support for 40 seats in the MOPP Training Programme. Candidates in this course are being given additional practical classes for 1 month at CIPET Bhubaneswar after the mandatory 5 months theory classes at CIPET Rourkela.
For this MOPP Training, the candidates must have passed Class 10 and be at least 18 years of age. Priority is being given to the candidates from mining affected, SC, ST and economically weaker families. DMF Sundargarh is taking steps to add four more courses for the year 2022-23 which will begin in April. 40 candidates will thus be selected for each training programme.
Among others, Principal Director & Head CIPET, Pramod Kumar Sahoo and DMF Livelihood Consultant Anjan Kumar Panda were present on the occasion.
