Nurturing Skilled in Odisha Youth With Advanced Skill Training and International Exposure
Bhubaneswar, 19 December 2023: “Bagging a job in a multinational Company like Emrill Services was a dream for me. But my life took a new turn after I took admission in World Skill Center & chasing my dream became easier after getting advanced skill training at World Skill Center”, says a youth, Bharat Mundari.
Bharat grew up in an orphanage in Rourkela. After completing a course at Govt ITI Rourkela, he enrolled for the 1-year advanced course in ‘Electrical Technology’ at World Skill Center (WSC). Throughout the course, Bharat developed his skills after getting advanced training at this premier skill development facility.
Similarly, Rekha Kumbhar from Belpahar in Jharsuguda district is witnessing her dream come true. After getting trained in industry standard labs of Beauty Wellness & Spa course at World Skill Center, she has bagged a job in the placement drive hosted by India’s leading Spa chain ‘Meghavi Wellness’.
Bharat from Sundargarh and Rekha from Jharsuguda are just the two out of many youth who have successfully chased their dreams after getting advanced skill training in the industry 4.0 labs. 93% students in the 2022-23 batch of World Skill Center have been placed in leading national and international companies, out of which 25% of the students have been placed abroad.
“It was my dream to get an offer letter from an international company and it has been possible only because of advanced skill training at WSC. I am very happy that I have been placed with Tanseeq Group of Companies, Dubai”, says Indra Tirkey. He is grateful towards the Hon’ble CM Shri Naveen Patnaik for the opportunity to transform his life from working in the farm to landing a job at Dubai, UAE.
The World Skill Center, designed on a ‘Finishing School’ model plays a vital role in nurturing the skills of Odisha youth. Industry ready students of WSC get an opportunity to hone their skills at an international destination and get advanced training. The WSC curriculum includes 15 day ‘Student Exchange Programme’ (SEP) to Singapore for 40 students. Similarly, 24 meritorious candidates are sent for 6-month paid internship as part of ‘Student Internship Programme’ to Singapore (SIP).
“I have honed my technical skills after enrolling in Mechanical and Electrical Services at World Skill Center. There are many new things to learn here and it is possible because of both theory classes and practical at ultramodern labs. I am currently pursuing the ‘Student Internship Programme’ at Singapore. I am getting all the opportunities to learn and explore more here”, says Shreenath Das from Jagatsinghpur.
International standard curriculum is offered to the students of World Skill Center along with Industry 4.0 laboratories having world class equipment. This collaboration between the Institute of Technical Education Services (ITEES) and World Skill Center has turned the institute into a global standard skilling destination.
Moreover, the Life Skills modules offered to the WSC students help them enhance their skills. It fosters Digital Literacy, Personality Development, Entrepreneurship abilities and many more. World Skill Center plays a major role in creating world class human resource.
The World Skill Center, which operates in a hub and spoke model encompassing the government skill centers across Odisha presently offers 7 advance courses under its ‘School of Engineering’ and ‘School of Services’. WSC prepares the youth of Odisha by providing a holistic mix of practical & classroom training along with necessary life skills preparing them to work at various industrial floors nationally and globally.
