Born on December 28, 1937, he is the great-grandson of Tata Group founder Jamsetji Tata. Ratan Tata took over the leadership of the Tata Group in 1991 and served as chairman until his retirement in 2012.

Under his leadership, the Tata Group expanded significantly, both domestically and internationally. He was instrumental in the acquisition of several key companies, including the British luxury car brands Jaguar and Land Rover, as well as the steel company Corus. Ratan Tata is known for his vision of making the Tata Group a global player and for his commitment to ethical business practices and corporate social responsibility.

Ratan Tata and the Tata Group have been pivotal in shaping modern India, developing landmarks like the country’s first steel plant, first five-star hotel and first power plant.
