The government of Odisha, under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has unveiled an ambitious initiative aimed at transforming the visual identity of government buildings and offices across the state. According to official reports, the plan involves a significant alteration to the color scheme of these structures, which will now prominently feature various shades of orange and red. Specifically, the external walls of government buildings are set to be painted in a vibrant orange hue, accented by striking red borders, creating a bold and cohesive aesthetic that reflects the party’s identity.

This decision comes on the heels of another recent change implemented by the BJP government, which involved a revision of the uniform design and colors for students. The new guidelines stipulate that the external walls of all government buildings, whether newly constructed or existing, will adhere to this updated color scheme.

A formal communication from Er. Lakshmi Kanta Padhi, the engineer-in-chief and special secretary, has been disseminated to all chief engineers and relevant officials within the works department, ensuring that the directive is executed uniformly across the state.

In addition to the changes in government building aesthetics, the BJP government has also made notable adjustments to the school uniform colors for students in Class 9 and 10. The new uniforms will feature a palette of light brown, chocolate and clay-baked yellow, replacing the previous green and white attire that students were accustomed to.

This initiative is part of the broader ‘Mukhyamantri Chhatra Chhatri Paridhan Yojana,’ which aims to standardize and modernize school uniforms. The implementation of these new uniforms will take place in schools that have not yet distributed the existing uniforms, ensuring a smooth transition to the updated design.

Overall, these initiatives reflect the BJP government’s commitment to establishing a distinct visual identity for both public infrastructure and educational institutions in Odisha, signaling a shift towards a more unified and recognizable aesthetic across the state.
