Odisha has incurred a financial loss of ₹600 crore due to Cyclone Dana, which inflicted significant damage across 14 districts. Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Suresh Pujari, stated, “The preliminary assessment indicates that Cyclone Dana has resulted in damages to both public and private properties amounting to approximately ₹600 crore. A comprehensive final assessment report is expected within a day or two.”

The cyclone has reportedly affected over 41 lakh individuals across 11,637 villages within 131 blocks of the 14 impacted districts. The districts of Kendrapara, Balasore, and Bhadrak experienced the most severe impacts, while other districts also reported considerable damage.

As per the government’s initial report, 16,417 houses were affected, with 14,680 sustaining partial damage and 27 being completely destroyed. The energy sector was identified as having suffered the most extensive damage.

The minister noted that all departments, except the Panchayati Raj department, have submitted their reports detailing the cyclone’s impact. The state government announced that a central team would soon visit Odisha to evaluate the damages caused by Dana, which made landfall on the night of October 24 and 25. “Following the completion of the final report, measures will be implemented to provide compensation to farmers for crop losses and to individuals who have experienced property damage,” the minister added.
