‘Odisha Mandap’ has become a key attraction of this event

India International Trade Fair 2024 commenced on Thursday at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The ‘Odisha Mandap’ is all set to become a key attraction of this event. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida inaugurated the pavilion set up by Government of Odisha.

“Odisha’s vibrant handlooms & handicrafts have earned distinctive reputation not just in India, but across the globe. And the remarkable success of Odisha’s Millets Mission has resonated across the nation as well. Various food items made up of millets and handmade products by Mission Shakti women are being showcased here. We are presenting a wide array of Odisha’s art, handicrafts & handlooms representing the incredible facets of the state,” said Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida.

The program will run from 14-27 November at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The ‘Odisha Mandap’ is placed at Hall No-2. Twenty five stalls have been set up by Information & Public Relations Department and various other departments under the aegis of Odisha Government.

The ‘Odisha Mandap’ has been designed around the theme of ‘Viksit Bharat’. The pavilion’s layout reflects the state’s journey from ancient to modern times, from intricate carvings on Konark temple to modern bullet train and from the Buddhist heritage of Ratnagiri to the emerging semiconductor industry. At the entrance, a framework featuring the famous arch of the Mukhteshwar Temple stands as a striking centerpiece.

At this annual event, Odisha proudly showcases its distinct art & crafts, including handlooms & handicrafts and tribal culture & their products. The mandap also features various rural products by Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) and items produced by Women Self Help Groups (WSHGs) of Mission Shakti, Odisha. The renowned Palm Jaggery, Koraput coffee and a variety of nutritious food products from Odisha are gaining popularity among the people of Delhi.

Odisha Mandap is featuring live demonstration of various handicrafts and handlooms this year, attracting visitors from both India and abroad. Among the key highlights is the ‘Karuna Silk,’ produced using non-violent methods from Eri silkworms, which showcases artisans weaving this exquisite fabric. The holy ‘Khandua Patta’ of Lord Jagannath, are now being weaved exclusively from ‘Karuna Silk’.

This year, Odisha is placing a strong emphasis on capturing the essence of its rich culinary heritage. The food zone of Odisha Mandap is featuring a variety of popular cuisines, including the renowned Rasagolla, along with Cuttack Dahibara, Nimapada Chena jhili & Nayagarh’s Chenapoda, showcasing the authentic flavours of Odisha.

During the inauguration ceremony, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department and Rural Development Department, Government of Odisha, along with Shri Saroj Kumar Samal,Director, I&PR Department, Government of Odisha, Smt Ritu Arora, Special Resident Commissioner, New Delhi, Shri Vishal Gagan, Principal Resident Commissioner and Smt Pranati Chhotray, Director of Handicrafts & Managing Director Boyanika, Shri Bhagirathi Nanda, President, SERIFED joined the program alongside senior officials from I&PR Department, Government of Odisha.
