Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other guests on stage at ‘Odisha State Day Celebration’ at IITF 2024

The ‘Odisha State Day’ was celebrated with aplomb at the ongoing 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024 in Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi graced the occasion as chief guest on Friday, highlighting the significance of this event in promoting ‘Odia Asmita’ nationally and internationally.

“Odia handicrafts and handloom products have gained international recognition today. They are being showcased by Odisha at the ongoing India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024 in New Delhi. As a result, people across India and abroad are getting the opportunity to learn and appreciate Odisha’s extraordinary artistic skills and unique craftsmanship,” said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

The CM further stated, “In 2036, Odisha will celebrate the centenary of its formation as an ‘Utkal Pradesh’. The state government is committed to creating a new and prosperous Odisha in this regard. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has called for the establishment of a developed India by 2047. Based on this vision, Odisha’s development is being put on the fast track. Hence, Odisha will be at the forefront of India’s development journey.”

“Odisha has a strong foundation for establishing modern industries. The state government has also implemented a separate policy to support this initiative. Odisha’s mineral resources, extensive coastline and vast forests are attracting industrialists and entrepreneurs nationally & globally. To explore how more industries can be established in Odisha, the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave is scheduled for January 2025,” stated CM Majhi.

During this event, the Chief Minister visited ‘Odisha Mandap’. He explored Odisha’s unique handlooms and handicrafts, along with products made by Mission Shakti women, tribal artefacts and various rural products exhibited across 25 stalls. He commended the Odisha Pavilion, designed under the theme ‘Viksit Bharat, Viksit Odisha,’ highlighting the state’s journey from ancient to modern times.

The Odisha State Day Celebration was held at the Amphitheater-1 during the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024. The event featured renowned Odissi dance Guru Saswat Joshi and his group, who performed traditional Odissi dance along with the popular Rasagolla anthem, Jaa Jaa Re Bhasi Bhasi Ja song and Sambalpuri folk dance.

Similarly, the Brindaban Sanskrutik Anusthan from Kalahandi showcased the Ghumura dance, while the Dulduli Kala Parishad from Bolangir presented the Ghudka dance. Additionally, popular Odia singer Susmita Das performed fusion music, captivating the audience with Odisha’s rich dance and music heritage, which left the Delhi spectators enchanted. During this event, the chief minister and other dignitaries launched the monthly editions of the publications ‘Utkal Prasanga’ and ‘Odisha Review’ released by the state government.

Dignitaries included Akash Das Nayak, MLA Korei, Irashis Acharya MLA Bhatli, Ritu Arora, Special Resident Commissioner New Delhi, Vishal Gagan, Resident Commissioner and Saroj Kumar Samal, Director, Information and Public Relations Department, Govt of Odisha along with senior officials from various departments.

India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024 which commenced on November 14 will continue till November 27. The Odisha Mandap showcases the state’s rich treasures, it’s ancient glory and the current strides in modern technology. Notable attractions include the Mukteshwar Temple Arch, a replica of the Konark Temple and representations of Ratnagiri’s Buddhist heritage, all complemented by images of cutting-edge bullet trains and advancements in industry, making it a special draw for visitors.
