On Wednesday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the establishment of an industrial park specifically designed for women entrepreneurs in the state. This declaration was made during his address at the ‘Women Business Leaders Round Table,’ which marked the conclusion of the ‘Utkarsh Odisha — Make in Odisha Conclave.’

In addition to the industrial park, the state government plans to create a dedicated cell for women entrepreneurs within the Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha (IPICOL). Majhi emphasized that the creation of this park is a step towards fostering a more inclusive industrial landscape in Odisha.

He revealed that ₹75,623 crore, approximately 28.5 percent of the state budget, has been allocated for initiatives aimed at women’s development. The chief minister expressed optimism that these initiatives would inspire women to pursue independent business ventures. He also invited feedback from women business leaders on strategies to enhance women’s participation in the business sector.

Majhi highlighted the successful execution of the Subhadra scheme, which provided ₹5000 to nearly 80 lakh women, facilitating their entry into small business ownership. He urged the women of Odisha to collaborate with the government in its mission to transform the state into a developed region by 2036. The government aims to improve access to markets and financial resources for women entrepreneurs, thereby dismantling the traditional obstacles they encounter.

The state administration has observed that women in tribal and rural areas are actively engaged in small-scale enterprises and agriculture. Through the Mission Shakti initiative, women throughout the state have successfully established themselves as entrepreneurs. Mission Shakti has previously served as a significant support base for the Naveen Patnaik administration.
