A new initiative aimed at accelerating rural development has been approved, named ‘Viksit Gaon, Viksit Odisha’

On Wednesday, the cabinet approved ten significant proposals during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi.
The Godavarish Adarsh Primary School Scheme is set to be launched, with plans to establish one smart school in each of the 6,794 gram panchayats. This initiative will cater to students from class 1 to class 8, with an investment of between Rs. 4 to Rs. 5 crore allocated for each school. The project aims for completion within four years, starting with 114 primary schools. A total budget of Rs. 12,000 crore has been earmarked, to finish the work by 2028.
Additionally, the state government will enhance financial incentives for RIR Power Commission Limited in the semiconductor manufacturing sector. Previously, 30 percent financial assistance was provided, which will now be increased by an additional 20 percent. The state government plans to allocate Rs. 110 crore for this purpose.
The State Cabinet has also resolved to offer financial support for cold storage facilities throughout the state, providing a 60 percent subsidy on capital investments along with an extra Rs. 6.5 crore in four tiers. Furthermore, subsidies for electricity will be made available.

Decisions will be made by the Gram Sabha and require approval from the District Collector, with a total of Rs. 5,000 crore sanctioned for this initiative.
The Odisha Medical and Health Services Regulations have been revised by the state cabinet, which has decided to address the shortage of medical professionals by appointing 5,000 new doctors and 126 dentists.
The 16th Finance Commission is scheduled to visit Odisha on February 5, during which a demand of Rs. 12,56,0148 crore will be presented for further consideration.
