Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced an initiative aimed at transforming Odisha into a prominent IT hub within the next two to three years. This endeavor will prioritize advanced training in Information Technology (IT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and semiconductor technology.

During a recent discussion with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Vaishnaw proposed the creation of a state-of-the-art IT institute in Odisha. This institute is intended to provide comprehensive training in IT, electronics, AI, Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), and Industry 4.0 technologies, thereby equipping the youth of Odisha for the fast-paced technological landscape.

The Union Minister underscored the significance of the ‘Chip to Startup’ initiative, which will be rolled out at four technical institutions: IIT Bhubaneswar, NIT Rourkela, IIIT Bhubaneswar, and Parala Maharaja Engineering College in Berhampur. This program is designed to stimulate the growth of IT startups in the region.

Furthermore, Vaishnaw pointed out the central government’s dedication to enhancing Odisha’s railway infrastructure. He noted that projects exceeding ₹73,000 crore are currently in progress, with additional railway initiatives planned for the next five years. The state will also welcome the introduction of six Vande Bharat trains and the modernization of 59 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

Chief Minister Majhi expressed his endorsement of the initiative and committed to providing appropriate land and other essential support for the establishment of the IT institute. He also requested the Union Minister’s assistance in developing a semiconductor industry in Odisha.
