The Odisha government is set to create a policy aimed at making the state a top wedding destination in India, according to Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida. Speaking to reporters, Parida, who oversees the Tourism department, highlighted that Odisha boasts stunning beaches, hills, mountains, temples, and a beautiful coastline, making it an attractive spot for tourists. The government is working to promote these locations as wedding venues, which will help boost the local economy.
Parida mentioned that the new wedding destination policy, titled ‘Wed in Odisha,’ will be launched soon. The plan includes developing necessary infrastructure, such as hotels, to support destination weddings. She noted that many young couples are interested in having their weddings in temples, so the government will identify suitable temples for this purpose.
Additionally, the government intends to introduce a homestay policy and an adventure sports policy, both of which will create many business opportunities in the State.
