International Women’s Day (IWD), celebrated on 8th March each year, is a global occasion to recognise the achievements, resilience, and contributions of women. This day also serves as a reminder that much work still needs to be done towards achieving full gender equality.
The theme for 2025, ‘Together, let’s #AccelerateAction for Gender Equality’, urges immediate and decisive action to dismantle the barriers that women face across personal and professional domains. The theme stresses the urgency of collective efforts in creating a world where gender equality is not just an aspiration, buta reality.
As the world prepares to celebrate International Women’s Day, OdishaLIVE, a leading homegrown web channel network from Odisha, is marking the occasion with a significant day-long event at Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar. This year’s event will bring together over 1,000 participants, including students, faculty members, entrepreneurs, professionals, and changemakers. Key topics will cover women in dynamic fields such as entrepreneurship, career growth, leadership, gender equality, and women’s health. The event’s focus will also be on social commitment, empowering women to take charge of their careers and personal well-being.

A Call to Action for Gender Equality
International Women’s Day is more than just a celebration; it’s a call to action. Despite progress in areas such as education, leadership, and innovation, women continue to face barriers like the gender pay gap, workplace discrimination, and limited access to opportunities. The theme ‘Accelerate Action for Gender Equality’ challenges individuals and communities to move beyond discussions and take concrete steps to achieve equality.
As OdishaLIVE celebrates the achievements of women, it invites students, professionals, and advocates of gender equality to join in this transformative event. Together, let’s celebrate women’s achievements and work towards a future where everyone, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities to succeed.
This International Women’s Day, let’s not just talk about change — let’s accelerate it.
