Paradip Police with instructions from Paradip Port authorities have apprehended two vessels, Ocean Jade and Ocean Morganite, on Thursday. This action was taken in compliance with a directive from the Orissa High Court. Reports indicate that Alphard Maritime Group, a prominent company in maritime logistics and marine services, initiated legal proceedings in the Orissa High Court against the two ships, seeking the recovery of approximately Rs 428 Crore in outstanding dues.
Ocean Jade functions as an offshore supply ship, while Ocean Morganite serves as an anchor-handling vessel, both registered under the Indian flag. In a related incident last August, an Egyptian ship was also ‘arrested’ at Paradip Port following a High Court ruling.
This vessel, which docked at Paradip Port on August 6, was subjected to legal action due to an unpaid debt of Rs 3.96 crore owed to a German firm. The German company had sought the ship’s detention through the Orissa High Court, leading to the court’s order for the vessel’s arrest on August 14.
