Amit Chatterjee’s achievement showcases his dedication to sustainability and support for underprivileged architecture students

Amit Chatterjee, Asst. Professor, from the Architecture Dept. at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, has been honoured with the Arcause Saath Design Educator’s Award for the year 2024-25. This national-level award, organized by Ethos Foundation in collaboration with Mphasis F1 Foundation, recognizes excellence in integrating sustainability into architectural education.
The competition saw participation from design educators across the country, with a rigorous two-stage jury process. The final jury panel included renowned architects Ar. Shirish Beri, Ar. Chetan Shivaprasad, and Ar. Roshni Udyavar. Chatterjee secured the first prize, receiving a cash award of ₹60,000. In a noble gesture, he has donated the entire amount to the Ethos Bridge Scholarship, a fund that supports underprivileged architecture students.
The Ethos Foundation, led by Ar. Gita Balakrishnan, aims to foster responsible architectural practices through education. This recognition not only highlights Amit Chatterjee’s contribution to sustainable design education but also reinforces the spirit of giving back to the community, ensuring financial support for aspiring architects in need.
