Emphasizing the critical importance of the forthcoming decade for Odisha’s growth, particularly in the realms of industrial and technological progress, Home Minister Amit Shah called on the state government on Wednesday to foster a conducive law and order environment. He urged the complete enforcement of new criminal laws within the next six months.

This appeal was made during a review meeting dedicated to the implementation of three new criminal laws in Odisha, which was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Shah evaluated the advancements related to the new regulations governing police, prisons, courts, prosecution, and forensics, specifically the BNS, BNSS, and BSA laws.

Shah underscored that the effective execution of these three new criminal laws is vital for improving law and order, a fundamental requirement for the state’s prospective industrial and technological advancements.

He directed the Odisha Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police to carry out weekly and bi-weekly assessments of the implementation status, respectively, and requested that the Chief Minister conduct a monthly review, highlighting the necessity of adhering to the established timelines for implementation.

The review meeting on Wednesday also included the Union Home Secretary, the Odisha Chief Secretary, the DGP, and the leaders of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD) and the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
