Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, currently visiting Singapore, has engaged with various industrialists in the nation, encouraging them to invest in Odisha, as stated in an official announcement on Sunday. During his visit, the chief minister met with Ravin Jhunjhunwala, the chairman of Orind Singapore Pte Ltd, who is interested in investing in the bio-fertiliser industry. Majhi urged Jhunjhunwala to establish a facility in Odisha and assured him of comprehensive support from the state government.
Additionally, the chief minister convened a meeting with Vivek Agarwal, the promoter of Visa Group Ltd, where he advocated for the expansion of capacity, enhancement of value-added products and the creation of more job opportunities in the steel and ferrochrome sectors within the state.

The Odisha government delegation also visited Sembcorp Industries Ltd, where they examined Singapore’s advancements in renewable energy and met with Wong Kim Yin, Group President and CEO. The discussions included Sembcorp’s forthcoming green ammonia project in Odisha, along with other renewable energy initiatives in India.
The Chief Minister extended an invitation to Yin and the officials from Sembcorp to participate in the ‘Utkarsh Odisha Conclave’, scheduled to take place in Bhubaneswar on January 28 and 29 of the upcoming year. Additionally, Majhi engaged in discussions with Edward Morton, the founder of CT Metrix, B C Tan, the chairman of UBCT and Sushant Patnaik, the founder and CEO of iHub Inc., focusing on advancements in semiconductor technology, medical equipment manufacturing and smart city initiatives.
Emphasizing that semiconductor and electronics manufacturing are priority sectors for the state, he assured that the Odisha government is committed to implementing proactive strategies to foster a strong electronics ecosystem within the region.
“This marks my inaugural foreign visit as Chief Minister and we selected Singapore for the Odisha business meeting due to its dynamic industrial environment and innovative methodologies. The exemplary infrastructure, logistics and urban management in Singapore offer significant insights for our rapidly urbanizing state,” Majhi stated.
He highlighted the robust economic, strategic and cultural connections between India and Singapore, expressing that Odisha is well-positioned to strengthen this partnership. The Chief Minister affirmed his government’s dedication to facilitating investors by providing opportunities in various sectors, including handloom, seafood and skilled labor.
Odisha’s advantageous position along India’s eastern coastline positions it as a significant center for investment, especially in the sectors of green fuels and renewable energy. “The discussions held today have equipped us with essential insights to further develop our industrial ecosystem and draw in international investments,” stated Odisha Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain.
A high-level delegation, led by Majhi, visited Singapore on Saturday and is set to conduct meetings with investors on November 19 and 20. The meetings will include prominent industrialists from Singapore as well as industry leaders from Odisha, such as Sunil Gupta from Vedanta Aluminium and representatives from major business associations.
The event in Singapore is expected to facilitate global partnerships and act as a precursor to the main conclave in Bhubaneswar, which aims to attract investments totaling ₹5 lakh crore over the next five years, according to officials.
