Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) has signed an agreement with seven state-run ITIs to facilitate the implementation of new Dual System Training (DST) from the academic year 2019-20.
OPTCL Director (HRD) Rajendra Senapati and Principals of the seven ITIs signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) in presence of Directorate of Technical Education & Training Director Reghu G and OPTCL Senior General Manager (HR) Ajay Prasad Panda. DST is a German vocational training program which was introduced in India by the Director-General of Technology, New Delhi. And, it was introduced in Odisha as a pilot project this year.
Under this scheme, around 140 students from ITIs of Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Bolangir, Patamundai based State Institute of Plumbing Technology and MITI-Cuttack will undergo an eight-month job training in Electrician trade at EHT and O&M departments of OPTCL to make them employable. “It is indeed a great step to address the skill gap in Odisha Power Industry. It will definitely help the ITI students from Electrical stream to gain practical knowledge” said Senapati.
