A statement released by the Johns Hopkins University’s latest update on COVID-19, globally the total number of coronavirus cases has topped 15.6 million with over 638,000 fatalities. Precisely, the total number of cases stood at 15,230,561 while the fatalities rose to 623,443.
The US reported world’s highest number of infections and fatalities at 4,106,346 and 145,333, respectively, followed by Brazil with 2,287,475 infections and 85,238 deaths. India ranks third (1,336,861) followed by followed by Russia (799,499), South Africa (421,996), Mexico (378,285), Peru (375,961), Chile (341,304), the UK (299,500).
India saw a single-day spike of 48,916 positive cases and 757 deaths as per statement issued by the Health Ministry.11 districts in the National capital are all set for second round of sero survey. Meanwhile, ‘Janta Curfew’ has been imposed in Nagpur city for two days to curb the spread of Covid-19 infection, essential services to remain operational.
