Dublin-based Black Eagle Books is hosting a three-day book exhibition during the 56th OSA Convention, which will take place from July 3rd to 5th at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Dallas Frisco Hotel & Convention Center, located at 7600 John Q Hammons Dr, Frisco, Texas. All titles published by Black Eagle Books will be showcased. The exhibition will feature works by international authors and Nobel laureates. Additionally, there will be a special display of books authored by members of the Odia diaspora.
As stated by Satya Patnaik, the organizer and founder of Black Eagle Books, this year is expected to see a record turnout of families attending the convention.
As a nonprofit publisher, Black Eagle Books is presenting over 700 titles that include classic, contemporary, and award-winning fiction, nonfiction, poetry, dramas, biographies, autobiographies, travelogues, essays, literary theories, children’s literature, and translated works in Odia, English, and Hindi.
Among the exhibition, five of the first ten Odia novels will be featured: Padmamali (1889), Bibasini (1891), Chha Mana Atha Guntha (1902), Bhima Bhuyan (1908), and Mamu (1913). Additionally, works such as Kabisamrat Upendra Bhanja’s “Labanyabati”, Mayadhar Mansinha’s “Dhoopa”, Ramakanta Rath’s “Sriradha”, Fakir Mohan Senapati’s “Galpa Swalpa”, Gopal Chandra Praharaj’s “Utkal Kahani”, and Pratibha Ray’s “Ketaki Bana” will also be available for viewing.
A special publication titled “Amerikiya Prabashi Odia Kshudragalpa O Atmalekha”, which is an anthology containing 38 short stories and 11 memoirs by 49 diaspora Odia authors, will be launched and displayed during this exhibition.
Patnaik has been organizing book exhibitions at conventions since 2013, even before establishing his publishing house. This initiative reflects his commitment to literature and his social responsibility towards the community.
Patnaik has plans for two additional book exhibitions in the USA this year: one in Columbus in September and another in New York City in October.
Wow. So happy to see all these books in USA at one stall. We are indebted to Black Eagle Books and Satya Pattnaik who made this possible for Odia people here. Way to go. I
