The Global Summit on Blue Economy 2026 will be held on 13–14 March 2026 at the Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Centre in Bhubaneswar, bringing together a diverse gathering of national and international leaders, policymakers, industry experts, researchers, and innovators to deliberate on the future of Odisha’s Blue Economy and India’s broader ocean-based growth trajectory.

The summit is being organised by the Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster Foundation (BCKIC), functioning under the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India, in association with the Commerce & Transport Department, Government of Odisha. It aims to create a dynamic platform where policy, science, innovation, and entrepreneurship converge to accelerate sustainable solutions for the ocean economy.

“The event aligns closely with India’s strategic visions of Maritime India Vision 2030 and Viksit Bharat @2047, highlighting Odisha’s emerging role as a major contributor to India’s maritime and coastal economic ecosystem. With more than 500 km long coastline along the Bay of Bengal and a strategic maritime location, Odisha is increasingly positioning itself as a hub for innovation and sustainable ocean-based industries,” says Dr Mrutyunjay Suar, Chairman BCKIC.

50+ Ministries, Depts, policymakers, 50+ international delegations, 100+ startups, innovators, 100+ industry corporate leaders, 200+ academicians, researchers, 50+ universities, research institutions, 50+ investors, funding bodies apart from 50+ NGOs, SHGs, and Coastal Communities are set to participate in the event.

A key highlight of the inaugural ceremony will be the release of the Blue Economy Technology Compendium, a comprehensive publication showcasing emerging innovations, technologies, and research breakthroughs shaping the future of the marine economy.

The summit will feature policy dialogues, leadership sessions, academic forums, startup pitch arenas, and collaboration platforms, fostering meaningful engagement among policymakers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and the scientific community. A total of 10 impactful sessions will focus on a wide spectrum of critical sectors such as fisheries and mariculture, marine biodiversity, climate resilience, maritime security, marine pollution management, offshore energy, deep-sea mining, marine biotechnology, and AI-enabled ocean intelligence.

Apart from hosting a Startup Pavilion and Pitch Arena, the Summit will act as a vibrant platform for 50+ emerging ventures from across the country working on innovative ocean-linked technologies and sustainable marine solutions. This initiative aims to encourage entrepreneurship and accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge technologies in the maritime sector.

It will not only highlight Odisha’s growing leadership in the Blue Economy but will also strengthen India’s efforts to harness the vast potential of its oceans for sustainable and inclusive growth,” adds Dr Suar while expecting the event to be highly impactful for all stakeholders.
