Bhubaneswar, April 2: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has reported its best-ever financial year performance in 2025–26, achieving record production and sales across key operational segments, the company said on Wednesday.

The Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Mines surpassed all previous benchmarks since its inception over four decades ago, marking a significant milestone in India’s aluminium sector.

According to an official release, NALCO recorded its highest-ever bauxite excavation at 77.01 lakh tonnes and transportation at 77.07 lakh tonnes during the financial year. Alumina hydrate production stood at 23.00 lakh tonnes, while calcined alumina output reached 22.75 lakh tonnes. The company also produced 4.72 lakh tonnes of cast metal.

In the energy and mining segment, NALCO achieved a record net power generation of 6,953 million units (MU) and coal production of 40 lakh tonnes.

On the sales front, the company posted its strongest performance to date. Total alumina sales rose to 14.46 lakh tonnes, including domestic sales of 1.38 lakh tonnes. Aluminium metal sales touched 4.74 lakh tonnes, with domestic sales accounting for 4.61 lakh tonnes—both highest-ever figures.

Year-on-year, bauxite transportation grew by 6.13%, while calcined alumina production increased by 11.16%. Aluminium cast metal output rose by 2.61%. Notably, total alumina sales recorded a sharp growth of 30.74%, and aluminium sales increased by 2.82% compared to the previous fiscal.

Chairman-cum-Managing Director Brijendra Pratap Singh credited the achievement to the collective efforts of employees and stakeholders. Speaking at the company’s annual business plan meeting in Angul, he said the performance reflected “dedication, discipline, and collective strength.”

He also outlined the company’s future roadmap, emphasizing improvements in plant, people, and process efficiency, alongside a stronger push towards digital transformation and green initiatives.

NALCO acknowledged the support of the Government of India and the Government of Odisha in facilitating its growth.

With this record-breaking performance, NALCO has strengthened its position as a major player in the global aluminium industry while setting new benchmarks for operational excellence among public sector enterprises.
