In a decisive push to accelerate Odisha’s industrial and urban transformation, Usha Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, Government of Odisha and Chairperson of IDCO, conducted a comprehensive field review of the rapidly evolving Kalinganagar industrial region in Jajpur district on Wednesday.
The visit highlighted a strong emphasis on aligning land development with strategic infrastructure, ensuring that industrial expansion is seamlessly supported by robust urban planning and service delivery.
Beginning her tour at Alijanga, the ACS inspected nearly 600 acres of land earmarked for future industrial use, closely examining its development potential and readiness. She then proceeded to Sukutijhara, where she assessed the preparedness of key zones poised to anchor the next phase of industrial growth in the region.
Accompanied by Ambar Kar, District Collector, Sapan Kumar Nanda, ADM Kalinganagar and other senior officials, she later visited Tata Steel’s DB Plot No -2 facility. There, she engaged with representatives from both the district administration and Tata Steel.
Beyond industrial infrastructure, Padhee placed significant focus on the district’s urban development landscape. She reviewed the progress of ongoing projects and flagship schemes aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure, enhancing service delivery, and improving the quality of life in emerging industrial townships.
A key highlight of the visit was a high-level strategic meeting chaired by her at the KNDA Conference Hall. The meeting brought together senior officials from IDCO and the District Investment Promotion Agency (DIPA), alongside the district administration, to chart the future course of the Kalinganagar National Industrial Corridor (KNIC). Discussions centered on expediting land allocation, ensuring timely infrastructure provisioning, and synchronising industrial expansion with essential urban services.
With strategic oversight and on-ground engagement at the highest levels, Kalinganagar continues to emerge as a cornerstone of Odisha’s industrial ambitions, setting a benchmark for integrated development in the region.
