The renowned Kalinga Studio in Bhubaneswar is expected to commence operations in January of the upcoming year, as the extensive renovation efforts are approaching their conclusion. The Odia film industry is poised to receive a substantial enhancement once the studio becomes operational.

Sources indicate that a committee from the Odisha Assembly, consisting of seven MLAs, visited the studio on Thursday to assess the progress of the development work.

Chairman of the Assembly committee, Dusmanta Kumar Swain, stated that the state government is undertaking essential measures to ensure the Kalinga Studio becomes functional as soon as possible, with a goal set to finalize the ongoing renovation by January next year.

It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited Kalinga Studio on June 1 of this year to evaluate the transformation efforts. Majhi expressed his appreciation for the facilities and the newly constructed infrastructure at the studio.

Previously, Majhi had instructed the relevant officials to create a comprehensive project report (DPR) aimed at upgrading the studio into a modern, world-class facility.

Numerous new amenities have been established at the studio, including an entrance plaza, indoor shooting area, Kalinga movie magic, avenue land, village area, iconic landmark, snow world, community hall, bamboo structure, waterbody, and green space.

Established in 1980, Kalinga Studio has been instrumental in the development of the Odia film industry. Many indoor and outdoor scenes from several popular films were filmed at Kalinga Studio during the 1980s and 1990s.
