Rama Devi Women’s University Bhubaneswar held an awareness programme on PM Surya Ghar Yojana & energy labelling, launching its Energy Club for students

Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar, organised an Energy Conservation Awareness Programme on the theme “PM Surya Ghar Yojana and Standards & Labelling Programme” along with the inauguration of the Energy Club on 23rd September 2025 at the Old Auditorium. The chief guest Shri Pyari Mohan Mishra, E.I.C. (Electricity)-cum-Principal Chief Electrical Inspector, Department of Energy, Government of Odisha, delivered an insightful address on the role of sustainable energy practices in today’s context.
The programme began with the welcoming of guests, followed by the introduction of the guests by Dr. Santosh Kumar Biswal, OIC, Energy Audit Committee. An opening address was delivered by Prof. Aparajita Biswal, DSW, highlighting the importance of energy conservation and awareness initiatives.
The Registrar, Smt. Manaswini Sahu highlighted the power of nature as energy and youth should come forward to protect the energy. The Presidential Address was delivered by Prof. Chandi Charan Rath, Vice Chancellor of RDWU, who emphasized the need for active participation of students in national energy conservation initiatives.
Later, an Energy Club was formally inaugurated. There are two technical sessions – “Standard & Labelling Programme”, focusing on the significance of energy efficiency labelling and consumer awareness; and “Surya Ghar Yojana”, elaborating on the government’s solar energy initiative aimed at promoting household solar power generation.This was followed by an engaging Q&A session with experts, where participants clarified their queries and discussed practical aspects of energy conservation.
The event was highly enriching and succeeded in spreading awareness about energy conservation, government initiatives like PM Surya Ghar Yojana, and the importance of adopting sustainable practices. The inauguration of the Energy Club marked a new beginning in the university’s commitment towards energy sustainability and active student participation in related activities.
