World Skill Center Bhubaneswar hosted its 6th Graduation Ceremony with 1,088 graduates and inaugurated Centers of Excellence in Automation & Smart Manufacturing

The World Skill Center, Odisha’s flagship institute for advanced skill training, hosted its 6th Graduation Ceremony today at its world-class campus in Bhubaneswar. The event marked a major milestone, with 1,088 students from the 2024–25 batch graduating after successfully completing one-year specialized training across high-demand trades.
Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education, Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, attended the ceremony as Chief Guest. He congratulated the graduating students and lauded WSC’s role in shaping a skilled, future-ready workforce aligned with global industry standards.
As a significant step towards enhancing the state’s skilling infrastructure, the Minister also inaugurated two new Centers of Excellence at WSC — the Center of Excellence in Industrial Automation and the Center of Excellence in Smart Manufacturing.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Swain said, “As we stride toward the vision of Viksit Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047, it is inspiring to witness the youth of Odisha emerging as leaders through skill and innovation. The inauguration of these new Centres of Excellence reaffirms our commitment to building a globally competitive workforce. WSC is not just an institute — it’s a launchpad for life.”

To recognize outstanding achievements, 29 students were honored with on-stage awards, including the title of ‘Best Trainee’ in each course, along with Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals awarded to the top three performers in each trade under the School of Engineering and School of Services.
Shri Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Department of Skill Development and Technical Education, joined the event as Special Guest. He praised WSC’s growing reputation among national and international recruiters and emphasized the institute’s impact on Odisha’s evolving skill landscape. “Our graduates are securing placements with top companies, and Odisha is fast becoming a benchmark for quality skill development in India,” he stated.
The event also witnessed participation from key industry leaders, including senior representatives from Calderys India Refractories Ltd., Wonderla Holidays Ltd., Bharti Airtel, and other prominent organizations, further reinforcing WSC’s strong industry linkages.
Delivering the welcome address, Smt Rashmita Panda, CEO of Odisha Skill Development Authority and World Skill Center, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to continue growing as professionals equipped to meet global industry demands.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri T Thambyrajah, Principal of WSC.
Other dignitaries present at the event included Shri Pinaki Patnaik, Additional Secretary, Department of SDTE and COO of WSC; Shri Bruce Poh, CEO of ITEES Singapore, WSC’s international knowledge partner; and Smt Jeetamitra Satapathy, Deputy Principal, WSC.
Established under the Government of Odisha’s flagship ‘Skilled in Odisha’ initiative, the World Skill Center stands as a model for advanced vocational education in India. It continues to empower Odisha’s youth with globally relevant skills and contributes meaningfully toward building a future-ready workforce for both the state and the nation.
