Atmosphere Core enters Northeast India with ‘DHAR GOLF VISTA’ in Shillong. Discover details on this 75-room luxury hotel slated to open in 2027

Global hospitality firm Atmosphere Core has announced its entry into Northeast India with a new boutique luxury hotel project in Shillong, marking a significant expansion of its India portfolio.
The company has partnered with local entrepreneur Rocky Dhar to develop DHAR GOLF VISTA by Atmosphere Shillong, an upscale property slated to open in 2027.
Strategically located in Meghalaya’s capital, the hotel will be situated close to the city’s golf course and within an hour’s drive from the airport. The project is expected to feature 75 rooms, including deluxe rooms, suites, and presidential suites, offering panoramic views of the golf course, surrounding hills, and the city.
Co-founder and Managing Director Salil Panigrahi said the move aligns with the company’s broader strategy to expand into premium hill station destinations, particularly in Northeast India. “This property is being designed to cater to a wide spectrum of travellers, from leisure tourists to corporate guests and curated social events,” he said.
The hotel will operate under the Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts brand and is expected to offer a range of premium amenities, including an all-day dining restaurant, a rooftop resto-bar, a themed sports pub, and wellness facilities led by the ELE|NA Ayur Spa. Recreational features such as a swimming pool, golf simulation pavilion, and indoor gaming areas are also planned.
Commenting on the expansion, Souvagya Mohapatra, Managing Director for India and neighbouring regions, said Shillong’s cultural heritage and natural appeal make it a strategic destination. He expressed confidence that the project would “redefine hospitality in the region.”
Shillong, perched at an altitude of nearly 1,500 metres, is a popular tourist destination known for its scenic landscapes, waterfalls, and vibrant music culture. Attractions such as Ward’s Lake, Elephant Falls, and Shillong Peak draw visitors year-round, while its reputation as India’s “Rock Capital” continues to boost its cultural profile.
Dhar said the collaboration aims to deliver a “world-class hotel experience” in Shillong and elevate the region’s hospitality standards.
With this project, Atmosphere Core is set to strengthen its footprint in India’s emerging tourism markets while contributing to the growing appeal of the Northeast as a premium travel destination.
