Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu will visit Mayurbhanj on June 20 for Odisha’s BJP government anniversary celebrations and development programmes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the village of Pahadpur, the in-laws’ residence of President Droupadi Murmu, located in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on June 20, where he will engage in various programmes, as reported by officials.
President Murmu is expected to arrive in Rairangpur on June 19, while the Prime Minister will participate in the state-level celebrations on June 20.
Pahadpur, the hometown of Murmu’s deceased husband, Shyam Charan Murmu, is situated approximately 20 km from Rairangpur town, where the principal state-level event commemorating the second anniversary of the BJP government in Odisha will take place.
Droupadi Murmu was born in Uparbeda village within the Rairangpur subdivision and was wed to Shyam Charan Murmu from Pahadpur. Tragically, her husband and two sons passed away prior to her assuming the presidency in 2022. A memorial has been established in the village to honor her husband and sons.
Officials have indicated that a significant public event is scheduled to occur at Dandabosh in Rairangpur on June 20. This event will be attended by both the President and the Prime Minister, along with Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and other esteemed guests.
During the event, several development projects will be inaugurated, foundation stones for new infrastructure initiatives will be laid, and the dignitaries will address the public assembly.
“Prior to the public event, the President and the Prime Minister will visit Pahadpur village, where they are expected to engage in local programmes and tour an exhibition highlighting regional achievements and initiatives,” stated an official announcement from the state government.
In preparation for the VVIP visit to Mayurbhanj district, the Odisha government has intensified its preparations.
President Murmu is set to arrive in Rairangpur on June 19, while the Prime Minister will take part in the state-level celebrations on June 20.
Before the visit, Chief Secretary Anu Garg convened a high-level review meeting on Saturday, instructing officials to finalize all arrangements within the designated timeframe.
The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials from both the Centre and the state government, along with various stakeholders. Officials from Mayurbhanj district, including the collector, the eastern range Inspector General, and the superintendent of police, participated remotely.
Discussions centered on security measures, protocol management, convoy logistics, helipad readiness, airport operations, accommodation, healthcare services, fire safety, continuous power and drinking water supply, road infrastructure, sanitation, telecommunications, and media coordination.
Radha Kishan Sharma, Special Secretary of the Home Department, provided a comprehensive status report on the preparations.
The chief secretary emphasized the importance of effective coordination among departments and district authorities, regular progress monitoring, and strict compliance with timelines. She instructed officials to uphold the highest standards of security, protocol, and logistical management during the visit of the President and the Prime Minister.
Following the meeting, Eastern Range Deputy Inspector General Pinak Mishra stated that approximately 150 platoons of police personnel, in addition to senior officers, would be deployed as part of the security measures for the event.
Earlier on Thursday, Odisha’s Director General of Police Y B Khurania visited Mayurbhanj to assess preparations for the state government’s second-anniversary program. He directed police personnel to maintain vigilance along inter-state border areas to guarantee comprehensive security.
The DGP also evaluated the routes designated for the President and the Prime Minister and reviewed the arrangements at locations scheduled for visits by Murmu during her two-day tour of Odisha, according to officials.
