Bhubaneswar-based deep-tech startup FxUAV builds indigenous drone communication hardware to support India’s self-reliance in defense and technology

As drone usage expands across sectors such as defence, logistics, mining and disaster management, one of the key challenges remains the availability of reliable communication systems that can support these operations. A significant part of drone communication hardware used in the market has traditionally depended on imported components, creating challenges around technology access, supply continuity and domestic capability.
Addressing this gap is Bhubaneswar-based deep-tech startup FxUAV Technologies Pvt Ltd, which is developing indigenous communication solutions for drones. Founded in 2021 by Subham Acharya and Partha Sarathi Dash, the startup is focused on building hardware and communication systems that help drones transmit video, data and control signals reliably over longer distances.

Unlike consumer drones that operate within a limited range, industrial and defence applications require stronger and more dependable communication links. FxUAV is working on technologies including 4G/5G connectivity, mesh networking and software-defined radio systems to improve drone communication capabilities. Its product portfolio includes FalconLink 5G, FxLink 2.4 and FxMesh, designed for drone manufacturers, system integrators and end-user organisations.
Highlighting the need for domestic capability in this sector, Partha Sarathi Dash said, “We aim to make India self-reliant in drone hardware communication by developing indigenous technologies and reducing dependence on external supply chains. This will help ensure continuity of critical supplies, especially during situations such as conflicts.”
Started by young engineers with backgrounds in electronics, space innovation and engineering projects, FxUAV has gradually moved from research and development to industry pilots and commercial deployments. The startup has secured two granted patents and participated in national innovation programmes focused on emerging technologies.
The company’s growth has also been supported by Odisha’s startup ecosystem. Through Startup Odisha initiative, FxUAV received support for product development, technology validation and market exposure. Such initiatives aim to help early-stage startups move from ideas and prototypes towards commercialisation.

FxUAV’s journey reflects the challenges of building a deep-tech hardware startup, requiring innovation, research, expertise, and validation. Supported by Startup Odisha under the MSME Department of Odisha Government, the venture progressed from a local workshop challenge to developing indigenous automobile support equipment, benefiting from mentorship, incubation, funding, and market linkages while contributing to Odisha’s technological and economic growth.
