Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminum producer, has partnered with PwC India to enhance biodiversity conservation and reduce carbon emissions in Jharsuguda, Odisha. This collaboration has been formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU). It encompasses initiatives such as advanced carbon sequestration projects, GIS-based ecological restoration, and the provision of energy-efficient cooking stoves to local communities.

The primary initiatives will focus on replacing invasive plant species with indigenous flora and establishing dense forests utilizing the Miyawaki method, which promotes biodiversity and enhances carbon absorption.

Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer of Vedanta Aluminium, highlighted the importance of this partnership in a press release, stating, “Together, we are addressing critical ecological challenges while fostering community well-being for a greener planet”.
