The Government of Odisha has initiated the Odisha Urban Design Hub (OUDH) through the Housing and Urban Development Department to spearhead design-focused urban transformation in 11 major cities, which include Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela, Berhampur, Sambalpur, Balasore, Baripada, Bhadrak, Paradip, Koraput–Jeypore, Keonjhar, and Phulbani.
OUDH aims to combine expertise in urban planning, infrastructure, municipal finance, data analytics, and community engagement to formulate city-specific strategies that harmonize Odisha’s architectural heritage with contemporary functionality and livability.
The primary objectives encompass the implementation of 15-minute city models, the creation of compact and transit-oriented neighborhoods, and the development of seven flagship public space projects that emphasize inclusivity, commerce, culture, and heritage. This initiative represents a significant step towards sustainable, integrated, and design-centric urban governance.
