Export-Import Bank of India announces a new regional office in Bhubaneswar to boost Odisha’s export ecosystem, MSMEs, and global trade partnerships

The Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) announced on Friday its intention to set up a comprehensive regional office in Bhubaneswar, marking a significant expansion of its involvement with Odisha and reaffirming its dedication to enhancing the state’s export ecosystem.
This announcement was made during a seminar titled “Enhancing Exports from Odisha: Opportunities & Financing Solutions,” which was co-organized by Exim Bank, the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), and the Government of Odisha. The event convened senior government officials, exporters, industry leaders, and financial institutions to discuss strategies for fostering export-led growth in the state.
In his opening remarks, Exim Bank Deputy Managing Director Tarun Sharma stated that the establishment of the Bhubaneswar office would allow the Bank to collaborate more effectively with exporters, MSMEs, and industry associations throughout Odisha. He emphasized Exim Bank’s support for projects in sectors such as steel, renewable energy, wagon manufacturing, and others, while also noting that its Trade Assistance Programme (TAP) has facilitated international trade transactions with countries including Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and the United Kingdom.
Sharma further emphasized the Bank’s role in promoting Odisha’s handicrafts sector and supporting young athletes in the state. Rashmita Panda, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the MSME Department, underscored the Odisha government’s efforts to encourage export-driven industrial development and enhance the state’s presence in global trade..
A significant feature of the event was the unveiling of Exim Bank’s research publication titled “The Odisha Opportunity: A Trade and Investment Roadmap.” This document highlights sectors with high potential, evaluates the state’s export competitiveness, and proposes strategies to establish Odisha as a premier export hub in eastern India.
