Jhilik Motion Pictures, the production house of Odia actress Jhilik Bhattacharjee, makes an international mark with the premiere of it’s sixth film ‘Lahari’ in Melbourne, Australia

After receiving accolades at its World Premiere during the 30th Kolkata International Film Festival and garnering praise from both critics and jurors, the Odia film ‘Lahari’ has achieved yet another milestone. It has been officially chosen for screening at the upcoming Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM 2025) next month.

Now in its 16th year, the IFFM is known for celebrating the diversity, creativity, and cultural richness of Indian cinema, presenting them to audiences worldwide. What makes ‘Lahari’ stand out is its showcase of regional cinema and the storytelling prowess of Odisha on an international platform—making this recognition a moment of pride for the state.

Lahari is a touching and visually stunning story about friendship, fatherhood, and growing up, all set against the peaceful scenery of Odisha’s eco-tourism. The film takes viewers on a rich and immersive adventure through various beautiful spots in the state, highlighting Odisha’s culture, natural beauty, and entrepreneurial spirit. 

The plot follows the main characters as they deal with the complexities of relationships, personal development, and the challenges of life in a fast-evolving world. The Film Maker Amartya Bhattacharyya’s distinctive vision reveals the emotional depth of the characters while incorporating the cultural richness of Odisha, making the film not just a gripping story but also a cinematic tribute to the region.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Amartya Bhattacharyya, the film has been produced by Jhilik Bhattacharjee, a well-known young producer. The cast features Choudhury Jayaprakash Das, Choudhury Bikash Das, Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Smruti Ranjan Mahala (child artist), Susant Misra, Swastik Choudhury, and Zeinab Doer, along with several prominent figures from the Odia film scene.

Produced under the Jhilik Motion Pictures banner, the music is crafted by Kisaloy Roy, with vocals provided by Gaurav Anand and Navya Jaity, while the sound design is managed by Anindit Roy and Adeep Singh Manki. Amartya Bhattacharyya has also taken on the roles of story writer, lyricist, cinematographer, and editor, highlighting his diverse talents.
