Odisha Research Conclave 2025 kick-starts at Berhampur University with a strong focus on innovation and impactful research

The fifth Odisha Research Conclave–2025 kicked off at Berhampur University on Thursday with a call for innovative and purpose-driven research to contribute to a developed Odisha by 2036 and a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
The three-day event is jointly organised by the Odisha State Higher Education Council (OSHEC) and Berhampur University. Registering participation from 657 researchers and faculty members across 17 state universities, it is one of the biggest gatherings of scholars under the state’s higher education ecosystem.
As the Research Mahakumbh of the State, the inauguration of the event at Biju Patnaik Auditorium was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Geetanjali Dash, with University of Hyderabad VC Prof. B.J. Rao attending as Chief Guest and ICSSR Member Secretary Prof. Dhananjay Singh as Guest of Honour.
Addressing the congregation, Prof. Rao urged young scholars to align research with national development. “Research must be dedicated towards shaping a developed Odisha and a developed India. The nation needs more innovative and creative research that can position India as a Viswa Guru, guiding the world and humanity with new knowledge” said Prof. Rao.
Prof. Dhananjay Singh said, “ICSSR is planning a new scheme to extend research grants even to undergraduate students. It will further strengthen the research culture from an early stage.”
During the inaugural ceremony, the university released its Research Journal (RJBU), a compendium of research abstracts and a series of literary magazines. A showcase of innovative prototypes developed under various research projects, including Nano-material prototypes created by researchers of Berhampur University, was also inaugurated.
The first day of the conclave featured roundtable conference of vice-chancellors from major science universities deliberating on knowledge-driven development strategies. Discussions centred on scientific innovation, emerging technologies, and the pressing need to scale knowledge-based growth.
A poster exhibition featuring science-based research works was held at the University Stadium. Over the next two days, the conclave will feature impactful sessions on Management and Social Sciences with industry experts, poster presentations in Social Sciences, and cultural programmes.
