Security measures have been enhanced in and around the Jagannath Temple located in Puri, Odisha, following a social media post that threatened a bomb attack on the historic 12th-century shrine, officials reported on Wednesday.
Authorities have detained one individual in connection with the online threat, they confirmed.
The Facebook post, which emerged on Tuesday, also included threats against BJD Rajya Sabha MP Subhasish Khuntia and a shopping center in the pilgrimage town, according to a police officer.
The woman whose account was utilized for the post has denied any participation, asserting that an unidentified individual may have created a fraudulent user ID in her name to incite fear, the officer stated.
Security has been heightened following bomb threats to Odisha courts, police chief states they are ‘closely monitoring’ the situation.
Based on the woman’s account, police have apprehended a man for questioning, the officer indicated.
A case has been filed at the cyber police station in Puri, and further investigations are ongoing.
“Security measures in and around the temple have been reinforced,” the officer remarked.
