Manipal University Jaipur has signed a dual degree agreement in science with the University of Melbourne, formalising an academic collaboration between the two institutions.
The agreement was signed at the Manipal University Jaipur campus in the presence of officials and faculty members from both sides. According to university representatives, the arrangement will allow students enrolled in selected science programmes to complete portions of their coursework at each institution and receive degrees from both universities upon meeting academic requirements.
The dual degree programme is expected to cover disciplines including Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology and Data Science in its initial phase. Officials indicated that additional subject areas may be included in the future, subject to academic review and regulatory approvals.
Under the structure of the programme, students will follow an integrated curriculum designed jointly by the two universities. The collaboration also provides for academic exchange, including potential opportunities for joint research supervision and faculty interaction.
Professor Karunakar A. Kotegar, Pro-President of Manipal University Jaipur, said the agreement reflects the institution’s efforts to expand international academic partnerships. Professor Willa Huston, Associate Dean for Global Engagement at the University of Melbourne, said the collaboration would facilitate student mobility and institutional cooperation.
University authorities stated that the first group of students under the dual degree arrangement is expected to commence studies in the 2026–27 academic session.
The agreement comes amid broader efforts by Indian and Australian universities to strengthen cross-border academic engagement through joint programmes and research partnerships.
