Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida urged the women of the state on Sunday to actively endorse the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which is scheduled for discussion during a special three-day session of Parliament from April 16 to 18.

Speaking at a press conference held at the state BJP office, Parida characterized the session as a historic occasion.

“These three days represent the pinnacle of 25 years of India’s Amrit Kaal. The proposed 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and state legislatures is not just about enhancing representation; it is about revolutionizing governance through the empowerment of women. This initiative lays the groundwork for a Viksit Bharat by 2047. It will render policymaking more inclusive, sensitive, and effective,” she stated.

The Deputy Chief Minister articulated seven fundamental principles—respect, safety, equality, participatory empowerment, self-reliance, and dignified leadership—as the cornerstones of women’s rights.

She attributed the entire credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for establishing the foundation for women’s empowerment since 2014 through various initiatives such as Swachh Bharat, Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, and housing schemes that promote women’s ownership. These initiatives have facilitated the current momentum towards political empowerment, she added.

Parida emphasized Odisha’s Subhadra Yojana as a pioneering initiative that reflects the prime minister’s vision and dedication to empowering women.

Calling for widespread involvement, she encouraged women to express their support by giving a missed call to 9667173333 and by organizing rallies, awareness campaigns, and social media initiatives.

“Let us commemorate this significant occasion as a festival throughout the state,” she stated.

Numerous leaders, including MP Anita Subhadarshini, BJP Mahila Morcha state president Aishwarya Biswal, and Kasturi Mishra, attended the event, advocating for united support to signify a “defining step” in India’s democratic progress.
