Centurion University enters the global Top 200 in THE Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026, ranks fourth in India, and earns global recognition for its SDG achievements

Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM) has achieved a major milestone in global higher education by securing a position in the 101–200 global band of the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026 and emerging as the No. 4 university in India overall.

The achievement places the university among the world’s leading institutions contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through measurable social, economic and environmental impact.

The achievement marks a remarkable transformation in Centurion University’s global standing. The university was placed in the 801–1000 band in 2023, advanced to the 601–800 band in 2024, moved further to the 301–400 band in 2025, and has now entered the global Top 200 in 2026 — representing a rise of nearly 800 positions in just three years.

The progress reflects the university’s sustained focus on education, skill development, innovation, entrepreneurship and community engagement.

The university recorded exceptional performances across several Sustainable Development Goals. It ranked among the Top 30 universities globally for two critical global priorities – securing 26th position worldwide for SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and 27th globally for SDG 13 (Climate Action). These rankings recognise the institution’s efforts in renewable energy, sustainability practices and climate resilience.

Centurion University also achieved global recognition for its contributions to social and environmental development. It was ranked 43rd globally for SDG 1 (No Poverty) and 44th globally for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), placing it among the world’s leading institutions working towards poverty reduction, food security and rural development.

The university further secured 51st position globally for SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and 65th position for SDG 15 (Life on Land), highlighting its initiatives in biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration and environmental protection.

At the national level, the university demonstrated strong performance across all assessed SDGs, securing a place among India’s Top 15 institutions in every category. Thirteen SDGs were ranked within the national Top 10.

Centurion University achieved the 2nd position in India for Climate Action (SDG 13) and ranked 3rd nationally for Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), Life Below Water (SDG 14), Life on Land (SDG 15) and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).

The university also secured top national positions in several other areas, including 4th for No Poverty (SDG 1), 5th for Zero Hunger (SDG 2) and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), and 6th for Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10). It further ranked 8th in India for Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), 11th for Quality Education (SDG 4) and 14th for Gender Equality (SDG 5).

Notably, the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Rankings are widely regarded as one of the leading global assessments of how universities contribute towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The rankings evaluate institutions based on their impact, research, outreach, partnerships and commitment to sustainable development.
