Contemporary Indian artist Birendra Pani’s 16th solo exhibition is being organised by the India International Centre, New Delhi, in collaboration with Purushottam Public Trust. The exhibition is being held at the Art Gallery, Kamaladevi Complex, India International Centre, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi.

The exhibition features 35 paintings, drawings, and prints that explore the complexities of contemporary urban life. Drawing from Indian artistic traditions while engaging with global visual culture, the works examine themes such as hyper-urbanisation, consumerism, mythology, environmental concerns, memory, cultural identity, and the tension between humans and nature. Through these works, Pani creates a new visual mythology that reflects the contradictions and changing values of modern society.

Birendra Pani explains that his art is inspired by Odisha’s rich artistic heritage—including Pattachitra, palm-leaf manuscripts, and temple sculpture—which he reinterprets in response to a rapidly globalising world. His work blends mythology, satire, history, and contemporary realities to invite viewers to reflect on the human condition.

Pani has a distinguished career of more than 35 years, with solo exhibitions in India and abroad, participation in over 350 group exhibitions, and numerous national and state honours for his contributions to contemporary art.

The exhibition will remain open to the public from July 1 to July 14, 2026. Visitors can also interact with the artist during daily walk-through sessions scheduled at 5:30 p.m.
