Odisha is steadily emerging as a hub for startups and entrepreneurship, with an increasing number of young innovators turning their ideas into technology-driven businesses.
From agriculture and healthcare to deep technology and defence, startups in the state are developing solutions to address real-world challenges. One such startup is Bhubaneswar-based Jaywing Technologies Private Limited, a deep-tech enterprise founded in 2023 by Jayabeer Sutar, a Computer Science and Technology graduate from NIT Bhubaneswar.

Having worked on robotics and drone technologies since 2018, Sutar established the startup to develop indigenous solutions for India’s growing drone ecosystem.
As the use of drones expands across agriculture, infrastructure, disaster management and defence, India continues to rely heavily on imported flight controllers – the electronic systems that act as the “brain” of a drone by controlling its movement, balance and navigation. These imported systems are often expensive, difficult to customise for local requirements and usually require additional hardware to process data using artificial intelligence (AI).
Jaywing Technologies is addressing this challenge by developing an indigenous flight controller with built-in computing capability, allowing drones to process information instantly while in flight. This helps improve efficiency and reduces dependence on imported hardware.

The startup also provides drone technology as a service, supplies agricultural and defence drones, and undertakes research and development in drone and robotics technologies. In addition, it has conducted drone training and awareness programmes in more than 20 schools across Odisha and supplied defence drones to units including the Para Forces and Special Forces.
“Our vision is to accelerate drone-driven innovation in India by developing indigenous technologies that enable wider adoption of drones across sectors. We aim to create solutions that improve efficiency, address real-world challenges and contribute to India’s technological growth,” said founder Jayabeer Sutar.
Jaywing Technology’s journey reflects the growing momentum of Odisha’s innovation ecosystem. The startup has received support under the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS) and IIT Ropar’s SPRINT programme.
It has also benefited from the enabling ecosystem created by the Startup Odisha initiative under the MSME Department, Government of Odisha, which supports entrepreneurs through incubation, mentoring, funding opportunities and platforms to showcase their innovations.
By fostering innovation-driven enterprises and encouraging entrepreneurship, the initiative continues to strengthen Odisha’s position as a growing destination for technology-led startups and deep-tech innovation.
