Odisha government rejects Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena’s resignation, allowing the 2013-batch IPS officer to continue in service

The Odisha government has declined to accept the resignation of Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena, an IPS officer of the 2013 batch.
Meena had submitted his resignation in July, citing personal reasons. His decision had triggered speculation about his next course of action, with reports suggesting that he could join a family-run business in Rajasthan.
Meena, however, had clarified that his decision followed discussions with family members and friends and was not prompted by any external pressure or political interference. Having completed 13 years of service, he had sought privacy and respect for his personal choice.
An alumnus of IIT Kanpur and a UPSC rank-holder with an All India Rank of 849, Meena has held several important assignments in Odisha. He has served as Superintendent of Police in Anugul, Ganjam and Malkangiri districts and as DCP of Cuttack.
He took charge as Bhubaneswar DCP on February 28, 2025.
With the government declining to accept his resignation, Meena continues to remain in service and in his current position as Bhubaneswar DCP. His plans, meanwhile, remain a personal matter.
