Vedanta Limited Jharsuguda and District Mineral Foundation, Jharsuguda have extended support in establishing the COVID Hospital while Hi-Tech Medical College is associated as the technical partner.
The Jharsuguda COVID Hospital was dedicated to public today by Health Minister Naba Kishore Das, in presence of Mr. Saroj Samal – DM & Collector, Jharsuguda and Mr CN Singh, CEO, Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda. MP Bargarh Mr. Suresh Pujari, Mr. Kishore Mohanty – MLA Brajrajnagar, Mr. Tirupati Panigrahi – Director High-Tech Hospital were also present on the occasion.
The Odisha government has been at the forefront of the COVID19 fight in India with many notable steps to check the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The commendable effort of the government has been lauded by the Centre as well. The decision to establish dedicated COVID Hospitals in each district of the state is being hailed as a thoughtful and effective step in checking the rise of coronavirus cases in Odisha.
Speaking about the hospital, Mr. CN Singh, CEO – Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda said, “Vedanta dedicates the District COVID Hospital to the five lakh people of Jharsuguda. We stand with the state govt. and the people of Odisha in the fight against COVID-19.”
The hospital has been set up by the District Administration of Jharsuguda with support of Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda and District Mineral Foundation, Jharsuguda. Hi-Tech Medical College has been associated as the technical partner for the COVID Hospital. Vedanta Limited has contributed in setting up and management of the 110 bedded (including 10 ICUs) standalone COVID Hospital at the old District Headquarter Hospital, Jharsuguda. Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda is providing required medical gear like masks, goggles, surgical gowns and caps, specialised medical equipment like nebulizers, ventilators, oxygen concentrators, etc., sufficient quantities of medicines and consumables, beds, mattresses and other infrastructure for management of the said hospital.Additionally, Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda made over 1000 dry ration kits available to daily wage earners, slum dwellers, marginal communities and needy individuals and households across Jharsuguda. The company has distributed over 80,000 reusable masks stitched by members of rural womens’ SHGs. Additionally, the company’s Mobile Health Unit is continuously sensitizing masses against COVID-19 in 30 villages of Jharsuguda, reaching out to 30,000+ people in rural margins, covering 5-6 villages on an everyday basis.
The company has associated farmers from peripheral villages with its farm-based livelihood CSR project ‘Jeevika Samridhhi’. Besides ensuring continuation of livelihood of farmers, it also helps to make essentials available in the immediate vicinity so employees and families do not venture out into the city for their needs.
