August 01 marks the ‘Sambalpuri Day’ in western Odisha. The most social celebration, Sambalpuri day is commended as a paddy harvest festival that ordinarily happens between the months of August and September. Aside from this, the birth commemoration of writer Satyanarayan Bohidar is celebrated on 1st August. Bohidar was a teacher in the Chandrasekhar Behera Zilla School and had written many popular poems in Sambalpuri language.
On this celebration, after a long-term hard work, the first grains of the paddy crop are cooked into different dishes and offered to the particular divinities.
The festival is celebrated by the individuals of Western Odisha, on full moon day. People commend this dining experience, by singing and on this day. The locals are seen beautifully adorned in Sambalpuri clothing. Fundamentally, the principle intention to praise this culture, language, convention, culture is to make the new age individuals think about the way of life.
