The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for 18 districts of Odisha. The warning comes after the formation of low-pressure over the North Bay of Bengal in the morning.
Widespread rainfall with isolated very heavy to extremely heavy falls also very likely over Gujarat state during 4th to 6th August; over Odisha on 4th August and

IMD said, “The low pressure will further intensify in the next 24 hours due to the merger of the cyclonic circulation over the Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh. Under its influence, there will be heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places across Odisha with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places in the next 12 hours. There will be severe waterlogging in the low-lying areas due to heavy rainfall.”
IMD has issued orange warning for Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj wheras yellow warning has been issued for in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, Deogarh, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Odisha coast, North Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal on August 4 and 5 as strong monsoon current and surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph will make the sea condition very rough.
