The central govt has chalked out a blue print to reopen the schools from September. In the primary phase, classes from 10th to 12th will remain open which will be followed by classes 6th to 9th.
The blueprint has been drawn up for the gradual reopening of the school between the first of September and the second week of November. The Central govt formed committee headed by Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan discussed about the issue. The final decision will be announced after the Unlock 3 deadline and all states shall have to abide by the guidelines issued. The reopening of schools for 10th to 12th graders has been scheduled for 15 September.
Students will take classes in two shifts from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 12 to 3 p.m. Not all sections of the classes will be allowed to attend in a single day. The option of alternative sections has also been discussed. Students of 6th to 9th grade will be going to school only after 15 September. All schools will comply with the SOPs provided.
But the reopening of the primary schools is yet to be scheduled. Instead, there are proposals to continue with the online classes. According to a survey by the Department of Education, parents are reluctant to send their wards to the schools because of COVID-19 situation. But some states have been focusing on reopening schools citing the unavailability of accessibility online classes for students with economic barriers.
